Meet the Team

Here at Dogs Day Afternoon, we know you expect the best, and that’s why we do too. All of our groomers are professionally qualified, and also professionally trained in pet first aid. Our walkers are all personally trained by Darren, and every single staff member is a dog owner themselves, from the groomers to the walkers to the administrative staff and of course the owner!

We think our team is pretty special, and here they are:

Darren Favretto

Darren moved to Melbourne from Adelaide in 1997. He tried working for Telstra but his energy levels were too high for an office job! Darren also dabbled in hospitality for a few years. One day whilst sitting in the sun and missing his dog back home, the idea of Dogs Day Afternoon was born.

In 2000, the business expanded to a salon in Albert Park, where it remains to this day! Darren has professional qualifications in dog training and grooming and loves his work.

He also loves boxing, paddle-boarding, motorbikes and of course his very joyful German Shorthaired Pointer Leroy!

Li Sher Tan

Groomer/ Walker

Li Sher has been grooming at Dogs Day Afternoon since 2011. Li Sher completed an advanced grooming course at the International Grooming School in Melbourne. She enjoys working with dogs of all different breeds and she has a strong interest in Asian Fusion style groom.

Li Sher was born and raised in Malaysia before she moved to Melbourne in 2006. She has always been a fervent animal lover and currently has one dog, Cocoa.

In her spare time Li Sher enjoys reading, watching her favourite TV series, spending time outdoors and going for long walks with Cocoa.

Thea Rogers

Groomer/ Walker

Prior to her work with Dogs Day Afternoon, Thea worked mostly in hospitality. She had always loved animals though, and was thrilled when given the opportunity to work with dogs. Thea adores the loyalty and fun that comes with dogs, as well as the exercise! Thea doesn’t have a dog right now but she’s very excited about the prospect of getting one, and tells us she has a soft spot for Staffordshire Terriers.

Leanne Handcock

Groomer/ Walker

Leanne has been working with Dogs Day Afternoon since 2011. She completed an advanced grooming course at the International Grooming School in Melbourne. Leanne grew up in country NSW and has always been an animal lover, turning her love for dogs particularly into an enjoyable career.

When Leanne isn’t grooming dogs she enjoys spending time in the great outdoors camping, travelling, going to the beach or taking her Tibetan Spaniel Sultan to the park and looking after her two cats!
